ANNOUNCEMENTS

"What's Happening At Painted Pony Pastures?"

Pink Sugar

  • In June we were most thankful to receive our first contribution of 2025. We want to thank Amy (last name to come), her daughters, Cheyanne Blasi and Rebekah Lyon for their charitable and thoughtful contribution of $100. Amy and her girls have rescued two horses of their own, saving Pete from near starvation and treating his several chronic diseases and another horse whose previous owners deemed unmanageable. Amy comes from a long line of equine enthusiasts and riders and is very knowledgeable in treating horse diseases and disorders with natural minerals and supplements. She recommends reading " Natural Horse Care" by Pat Coleby (available on Amazon), for those of you interested in  more nature-inspired alternatives for the medical treatment and wellness of your horse(s).

  • We also want to thank Chuck and Becky Albiol for their generous contribution of $1000 this month. Last year we were able to take in their horse Brownie, an Appendix, who they couldn't take with them when they relocated to Georgia. Brownie had Cushing's and responded well to medication and special diet for a year before succumbing to the disease several months ago. Chuck, an experienced trainer and rider, trained and showed Arabians in different disciplines for many years.

  • We want to thank Doug Marcum and his concrete crew for the wash pad that they poured and finished adjacent to our barn.  We love it! And use it daily!

  • We are so grateful to our dear friends from Maryland, Charlie and Haley Meushaw and their daughter Shanna, who custom made a light for our barn. It's a photo of the 200+ year old oak tree at the base of our driveway superimposed over a LED lighted shell. Charlie has had a sign company in Maryland for almost 50 years,  and Haley is known nationwide as a neon sculptor and teacher of the artform. We were so surprised and thrilled to receive this heartfelt gift!

  • In February 2024 we took in two Paso Fino mares, Fallon, who is 11 yrs. old and foundered in her front legs/hoofs, and her pasture mate, Davina who is a senior brood mare with hip disability.  We have been able to help both of these ladies to ease into better health for their retirement here.  These two will require special vet and farrier care.

  • We desperately need $250 to have Divina's hips realigned by a horse chiropractor. Her hips are so out of alignment that her front legs go forward but her back legs go sideways!

  • If you can donate any part of this cost, DAVINA WOULD BE SO APPRECIATIVE!

  • Just a reminder, our hay cost alone for the year is $22,000 and $22/bag of grain.  Anything not contributed comes out of my husband's Veteran disability pension and our combined Social Security income. If you can help us in any way, we and the horses would be most appreciative.

  • We have one horse available for adoption.  Hope is a beautiful, loving, spirited 17 yr. old Quarter Horse/Arabian mix who would make a great friend and horse for any discipline.  She needs training but is a quick learner. Take a look at her in the section " Our Residents". Call to see her. She can be your horse!

Thank You!

Helvetica Light is an easy-to-read font, with tall and narrow letters, that works well on almost every site.

Please find it in your hearts to help us by either giving a donation or volunteering to work with the animals.  We've financed this small rescue with our own money since 2007.  However, since we're both retired and in our 70's, we find we need help or we can't continue to keep the rescue going.

About half of our horses and donkeys can't be placed because of their age or medical conditions but they still enjoy being part of the herd.

We've rescued, rehomed or given sanctuary to about 50 horses since the beginning.  We'd like to help even more with your assistance.

Please help us help the horses.  The Fryes
